Kithling is a virtual pet you raise over about a month. It hatches from an egg, grows through five stages into one of four true forms depending on how you care for it, and lives in your Dynamic Island and on your Lock Screen.
Custom looks are made with Image Playground and need an iPhone with Apple Intelligence, with image generation turned on in the Settings app under Apple Intelligence & Siri, and a supported language and region. Without it, your kithling is shown as an emoji and everything else works the same.
That's your kithling growing into a new form. Pick a look you like and it becomes its look for this form; cancel to keep the emoji for now. A card on the main screen lets you make one later, and Settings → Its look lets you make a new one or go back to the emoji.
Yes. Ask "How is my Kithling?" and Siri tells you how it's doing and whether it needs you. You can also say "Feed my Kithling", "Play with my Kithling", "Put my Kithling to bed", "Give my Kithling medicine", "Clean up after my Kithling" or "Tell off my Kithling" — Siri says how it went. The same actions are in the Shortcuts app, so you can add them to your own shortcuts and automations.
It sleeps from 22:00 to 07:00, the same hours every night. Use Wake if you need to, but a creature that is woken a lot grows jumpy.
Only when your kithling needs you and the Dynamic Island can't show it — for example when a call starts while the app is closed. Nothing is sent overnight. Turn reminders off in Kithling's settings under Reminders.
iOS ends every Live Activity after about eight hours. Opening Kithling brings it back. If it never appears, check the Settings app under Kithling → Live Activities.
Your steps, exercise, sleep and mindful minutes make your kithling healthier and longer-lived, and listening to music perks it up. It's optional and read only — nothing is written to Health.
Lay a new egg from the memorial screen. Every kithling you raise stays in the Field Guide (the book icon), with its whole life story and every look it had.
In Settings, choose "Start over with a new egg". The current kithling's story is kept in the Field Guide.
On your iPhone. Kithling has no accounts and collects nothing. See the privacy policy.
