Effective 24 September 2026
Kithling keeps everything on your iPhone. It has no accounts, no advertising, no analytics and no network code of its own, so nothing you do in it is sent to us or to anyone else. The one exception is optional and handled by Apple: making your kithling a look of its own, described below.
Only if you choose to connect Apple Health, Kithling reads these for the current day:
Only if you allow access to your music library, Kithling counts how many songs you have played today.
These readings decide how your kithling feels and how long it lives. Kithling only reads them. It never adds to or changes anything in Apple Health or your music library.
Your kithling — its name, its condition and its history — and your settings are saved on your iPhone, inside the app. So that the same activity is not counted twice, the app also keeps today's step and exercise totals once they have been applied. No other Health or music information is stored.
None of this is stored in iCloud or shared with anyone.
On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, you can give your kithling a look of its own when it hatches or grows into a new form. This uses Apple's Image Playground. Kithling gives it a short description of the form — for example "a young dragon with wings far too small to fly with" — and, from the second form on, the look you made for the form before, so it stays the same creature. Apple creates the image on your iPhone or on Apple's Private Cloud Compute, under Apple's privacy policy. Kithling never receives or sends anything itself.
The looks you keep are saved on your iPhone, inside the app, and deleted with it. This is entirely optional: if you don't use it, or your iPhone doesn't support it, your kithling is shown as an emoji and nothing is sent.
If you allow notifications, Kithling schedules reminders on your iPhone for when your kithling needs you. The Dynamic Island and Lock Screen show your kithling's current state. Both are created on the device; nothing is sent to a server.
Kithling does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
If this policy changes, the new version will be included with the app update that brings the change, with a new effective date.
